Goal:
To provide recent university graduates with work experience in challenging areas that will enhance their professional credentials as well as their understanding of international development.

FIT has hosted 22 interns, providing them with an opportunity to learn and work in a number of important areas such as civil society development, small and micro enterprise development, women in development, environment and development and child rights. FIT staff provide intensive training and mentoring in issues ranging from results-based management, project design and proposal writing and financial management to participatory rural appraisal, training of trainers, and cross-cultural sensitivity. This training is followed by a placement with a FIT project or partner agency overseas. The combination of training and practical experience gives these young people an opportunity to pursue careers in international development.
