Additionally, CIDA IYIP participants cannot be in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits while participating in a CIDA IYIP project. EI recipients wanting to participate in a project should consult with an EI agent and voluntarily withdraw from EI.
The CIDA IYIP participant profile is usually characterized by youth who have demonstrated achievement at the post-secondary level but can benefit from assistance to successfully launch their career in key areas as designated by the planning process. Their assessment shows that they have technical/professional skills but lack career-related work experience and advanced employability skills. They are usually recent graduates without a labour market attachment. Consideration should be given to ensuring participation from the four designated groups (Aboriginal persons, persons with disabilities, visible minorities and women).
