| Social
development is a vital building block in achieving healthy and
resourceful societies. The fundamental need in all societies is
to protect and enhance the well-being of the less privileged, by
economic status and gender, in order to ensure just and equitable
participation in nation-building activities.
FIT addresses the need for training and technical assistance to
strengthen initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty and improving
the quality of life at the grassroots level. FIT's programs offer
support for:
- generating livelihood opportunities for micro and small entrepreneurs
the application of low cost technologies
- integrating women in mainstream activities
- improving health and sanitation
- integrated rural development
- strengthening social sector institutions,
particularly the organizational capabilities of NGOs and their
skills
in project design and implementation
- networking among NGOs
