The Project, Promoting a Culture of Good Governance through Values and Outcome-Based Ethics in Ethiopia is a 2.5 year project being undertaken by the Foundation for International Training (FIT), through a partnership with the Ethiopian Civil Service College (ECSC). Funding support for the Project is being provided by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) through the Canada Corps fund aimed at supporting Canadian civil society and private-sector projects that promote and facilitate innovative approaches to strengthening good governance practices in the developing world.

The Project has been developed in response to the pressing need of the ECSC to deliver training in the areas of good governance and ethics to support the Government of Ethiopia’s Public Sector Capacity Building Program (PSCAP). Through the Project, FIT will support the ECSC in designing and delivering important programs and developing a Code of Ethics that will promote greater understanding and practice of good governance within the Ethiopian civil service.

The ECSC is partnering with FIT to assist in the design and implementation of a program to achieve the Project objectives. The Project will draw on the Diaspora in Canada through the Association for Higher Education and Development (AHEAD), as well as FIT’s extensive network of governance and public service experts to provide technical assistance and training. This infusion of expertise will serve to promote the sharing of Canadian best practices and values in ethics and governance, as well as will provide the ECSC with the human resources necessary to meet the growing demand for training under PSCAP.
